John started Stringfellow Insurance Agency, Inc in May 2016, purchased a Farmers Agency from a retiring agent in August, 2016 and offers all lines of insurance services at his agency. Prior to becoming an agent, John had nearly 30 years of military, manufacturing, and logistics management experience.
John graduated from the United States Naval Academy and served for 5 years as a Surface Warfare Officer. He was an Engineering Officer on minesweepers operating in the Persian Gulf at the end of the Iran-Iraq War and the Anti-Submarine Warefare Officer on a Destroyer during Desert Storm. After three consecutive summers in the Persian Gulf, he decided it was time to leave the Navy for more permanent opportunities on land.
Following the Navy, he spent 10 years in the paper converting industry. He held various responsibilities including Operations and Human Resources Management and was the Plant/General Manager of three different facilities. After starting a new plant for a company in 2000, the post 9/11 economy resulted in the need for a sudden change. He then spent 13 years with a 3PL (Third Party Logistics Company), managing a network of warehouses and retail installation contractors working with top retailers and consumer products goods companies.
In 2015, family changes caused John to look in a different direction so that he could spend more time at home. After several searches, he decided to use many of the skills he had learned and start an insurance company - ultimately buying a Farmers agency to get started. What he enjoys most as an insurance agent is getting to know a diverse group of people and being able to help protect the things that are most important to them.
He is married to high school sweetheart Michelle and has three kids, daughter Mallorie- with a Master's degree in music and married, Jacob - a recent CU- Boulder graduate, and Megan - a student at Washington State University.
In 2013, one of his children was diagnosed with major depression and anxiety. This opened his eyes to the inefficiency of the healthcare system and the overall lack of understanding many people have when it comes to mental health. He is currently the Board President of NAMI - Boulder County, a grassroots mental health organization that provides free training and support groups for individuals and families dealing with mental health situations.
He is also an avid cyclist and enjoys riding in the mountains whenever possible.
Since 2015, John and his dad and brother have ridden as "Team String" in support of Willa's Wheels and Ray of Hope Colorado, two non-profit organizations that work in conjunction with each other to provide support for cancer patients in the form of everyday living expenses.
